Vesrah Offroad Team Racing Report: The Offroad Cup

The Vesrah Offroad Team (formerly known as Vesrah Suzuki Offroad) of Scott Daubert and Joe Vadeboncoeur took on The Offroad Cup race held this year at Golden Pines Raceway near Prentiss MS.  The Offroad Cup race is a 3 man team race meant to crown the best offroad series in the USA.  The team represented AMA D16 in the race.  Scott and Joe decided to race as a duo instead of a 3 man team, as that would allow more seat time.  In spite of being at a disadvantage late in the race, they placed 2nd in the +40A class.

All the way from Wi.

This years race was held at the Golden Pines raceway.  The course was very GNCC like in that it was fast through the woods and included a fun grass track section and a complete outdoor MX track.  Also very GNCC like was the fact that it became very rough late in the race.

Scott started the team out with the first leg and quickly moved the team into 2nd place.  Scott reported that the initial laps were very one lined and tough to pass .  But, as the race wore on many lines developed and lap times came down for most everyone.

The team had a strategy of changing the rider every hour, a strategy that they developed in the daylight hours at Perry Mountain Challenge last year.  That strategy proved to be the right one for this race as well.

Joe was able to hold steady in 2nd place for those early hours as well.  As the race wore on and the course became faster and rougher, the team managed to put more than 2 laps on the 3rd place team.  Although the team was not on the same lap as the winning team in the +40A class at the end,  to be 2nd in the class while having just 2 riders was an amazing result.

2nd place!
